Cursor skills

Cursor skills are SKILL.md files Cursor loads from ~/.cursor/skills when the open task matches the description. This page is the catalog of those files plus the MCP connect that lets Cursor fetch a slug and write it.

Pick a listing, copy its slug, then switch to Agent chat. myagents stores community procedures Cursor does not ship: commit messages, review checklists, design tokens. Start a fresh chat after the write and name the job. If Cursor ignores the file, open ~/.cursor/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md and restart the agent. Settings → Skills should list the slug.

Skill format: Cursor docs.

How to install a Cursor skill

  1. Click Add to Cursor, or merge the mcpServers.myagents object from the panel into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
  2. In Agent chat, give Cursor the slug and tell it to use the myagents install_skill tool. Skip pasting SKILL.md unless Cursor asks for a manual paste.
  3. When the proposed path is ~/.cursor/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md, approve. Reject the write if the folder is anywhere else.

Ask Cursor to list ~/.cursor/skills. The slug folder with SKILL.md should be there. Role files go to ~/.cursor/agents/<slug>.md.

To drop a file without MCP: mkdir -p ~/.cursor/skills/<slug>, save SKILL.md, then restart Cursor. Frontmatter needs name and description or Cursor will skip the skill.

Once MCP is up, Agent chat can search this catalog. The six skills below are the current install leaders for people using Cursor.

Cursor keeps agent roles as markdown in ~/.cursor/agents. The six below follow install count, same ranking as skills.

Open any card for the slug, then come back to Agent chat. Cursor skills from this list install the same way as a search hit: install_skill, confirm, then a new chat that names the task.
